Derek Elliott - Cumbria, England to Finley, NSW, Australia 1965

I travelled to Australia on the "Fairstar" leaving England a week after my 17th birthday. Disembarked in Sydney, Australia 8 June, 1965.

These photos were taken during and soon after arriving. The shipboard ones record the "Crossing the Line" ceremony as we crossed the Equator. We stayed at the Training Farm at Fairfield for a few weeks before I took the train to Finley, south west NSW, to work for the Keith Alexander and family. Later we moved to Moama, NSW. In 1968 I left the Alexander's to work in Echuca, Vic.
