The web has just begun to have an impact on our lives. As fascinated as we are with it today, we’re still seeing it in its early forms… My belief is that not only will the web be as fundamental to society as electrification but that it will be subject to many of the same diffusion and absorption dynamics as that earlier medium.

      One of the original and best graphic organiser site in that it provide explanations on use. You may have do have a good look around or use the site map.

      My favourite online concept mapping tool. Simple to use and very flexible. Basic version free. Register as a teacher or student to receive discount on upgrade. Click 'upgrade' to access this option.

      Includes a set of graphic organizers designed to assist teachers and students in prewriting and postreading activities focussing on the key elements of character, setting, conflict, and resolution development.
    • Mindtools
      A comprehensive site containing theory and practice on the use of graphic organisers. Commercial site but loads of free content.
    • Mindmeister
      Free online tool for collaborative brain storming. Large discounts for academic institutions.
    • Freemind
      Another of the quality Sourceforge products. This is a serious concept mapping tool to download.
    • CMap
      Empowers users to construct, navigate, share and criticize knowledge models represented as concept maps. Very complex online facility becoming increasingly popular with teachers.
    • Mindomo: Online mindmapping and brainstorming software
      Basic version free with limited functionality. More features with subscription.
