The web has just begun to have an impact on our lives. As fascinated as we are with it today, we’re still seeing it in its early forms… My belief is that not only will the web be as fundamental to society as electrification but that it will be subject to many of the same diffusion and absorption dynamics as that earlier medium.

RSS & Feeds

RSS feeds are the mechanics behind news distribution to your desktop.  Bring news and updates from across the web for reading in the one place.  Can you imagine doing it in any other way?  RSS functionality is now ubiquitous although still underutilised by many information specialists.

Google Reader
For me, this is the most useful online RSS reader.  It integrates well with Feedly to present feeds in a magazine format. Simply subscribe to blogs, news, search results, etc to 'pull' them into the one convenient site.

Bloglines
One of the earliest RSS readers, this is not the original Bloglines.  It's being re-invented after change of hands.
