Webquests
WebQuests are inquiry-oriented activities which have been developed to facilitate the use of the Internet in the classroom, to develop critical thinking, cooperative learning, authentic assessment and ensure that students get the most out of their use of the vast amount of information available on the World Wide Web. Created by Bernie Dodge - Quest Garden and Tom March - Working the Web for Education. Their websites are a rich source of examples and tutorials to assist you in creating 'rich, real and relavant' Webquests, Hotlists, Treasure Hunts and Samplers to aid and encourage student learning. Tom March resides in Australia.
Touring Antarctica
An Internet webquest on Antarctica. Can we afford the costs of increased human activity in Antarctica? In this class you will work in teams to establish the environmental impact of increased tourism in Antarctica from the point of view of a number of interest groups and present your conclusion as to whether or not this planned tour should be permitted to go ahead. Students explore through the perspective of the tour operator, the scientists, environmentalists or politicians to reach a common conclusion. Suits VELS Level 5, Years 7-8.
Best Webquests
Tom March selects webquests for this site that have been constructed according to prescribed webquest guidelines. He did this to counter the situation where the term is applied freely to a whole range of activities. Webquests on this site have teacher support materials.
Useful Webquest Resources
Bernie Dodge brings together resources designed to be useful to teacher educators and staff developers who are putting together a course or workshop about WebQuests. There's a lot to choose from!
